We recommend to discuss Baby Detect with your Doctor, your pediatrician, your gynecologist, or your midwife. They can answer your questions and explain you how to proceed if you want to screen your baby.
At this point in time in Belgium, the test is offered at 650 EUR/baby. It will be directly invoiced to the parents by the CHU a few days after it has been performed in the maternity. Partial reimbursement is available with selected insurance companies and/or mutualities, we encourage you to check with your insurance companies as policies can evolve.
Most maternities in Belgium can perform Baby Detect on request. All you need to do is ask the doctor or midwife and sign the attached consent form together with a physician of your choice. This can be your gynecologist, pediatrician or general practicioner. This form will be attached with the blood sample card of your baby when the midwife draws a few drops of blood at the maternity for the Guthrie test.
If your maternity does not hold Baby Detect blood sample cards, fill in the form below and we will send you one by regular mail. In that case, you will need to bring the card and the consent form to the maternity and ask the staff to fill in the card when performing the Guthrie test.
